Want to know which are the 5 most popular cannabis strains in the Netherlands?

When anyone hears the word Netherlands, the first or at least second thing that comes to mind is definitely a joint. And for anyone visiting as a tourist, an authentic coffee shop is almost certainly on their list of sights to see. Now we just need to figure out which are the 5 most popular cannabis strains in the Netherlands.

With today's blog post, we're making an attempt at this, so that when you actually make it to the land of tulips, windmills, cheese, wooden shoes and of course cannabis, you'll know what to look for! Because of course the coffee shops will welcome you with a wide selection, but if you're already there, it's worth tasting the local specialties.

But which are the 5 most popular cannabis strains in the Netherlands?

Although there are plenty of ongoing topics related to hemp, from legalization discussed in ourprevious blog posts to medicinal effects and cultivation, little is said about which cannabis strains enjoy great popularity. That's why we're now taking a closer look at this, examining the European home of marijuana more closely.

Let's see which are the most popular cannabis strains!

  • Fast Buds Amnesia Haze sits in first place, which also produces yields extremely quickly, so you don't have to wait too long for the first harvest. It's a high-yielding sativa variety with a floral taste mixed with orange and mandarin. It thrives mainly in warm climates.
  • Super Silver Haze won first prize almost 30 years ago. This hybrid sativa has an extremely complex aroma: it combines sweet berry fruit, cut stone pine, but you can also detect a hint of diesel.
  • White Widow is one of the most passionate Dutch varieties, which produces flowers quickly, has an even effect on the nervous system, and quickly develops its effect while tasting its sweetly strong citrusy pine flavor.
  • Heaven Haze has a THC content of about 20%, which means it provides strong yet enjoyable effects without sending you to the sky. The strain calms the user with a relaxing body high, allowing movement and maintaining consciousness.
  • Power Plant achieved immediate success as soon as it appeared on the Dutch market and can be found in every coffee shop's selection. Its taste is strong and fresh, leaving a slightly sweet aftertaste.

As you can see, there's plenty to choose from, and you can find almost all of them in our webshop as well, where you'll find even more detailed descriptions of their cultivation.

How to start cultivation?

And since we've mentioned cultivation, it's important to highlight that there are quite a few places in Europe where you can grow hemp for yourself at any time.

That's why it's worth browsing our selection, where you can buy gardening supplies individually or you can put complete packages directly into your cart.

For growing from seed, you'll also need germination tools; with seedlings, your job might be a bit easier. You need to provide adequate and proper light, water, humidity, nutrients, know about deficiency diseases and pests, so there will be plenty to research!

Follow the law!

We consider it important to emphasize that every country has its own customs, so it's definitely worth researching the laws of the given country. It's also worth keeping in mind that as a citizen of a particular country, the laws that apply to you are those of the country you're a citizen of, not where you're currently staying.

Of course, this should in no way deter you from a great Dutch trip, but if you're thinking of a closer destination, we welcome you with much love to our Austrian store, where we're happy to answer any questions you may have!
