What Happens in Case of THC Overdose?

Since it's classified as an illegal substance in many countries, education about it isn't considered important. However, there could hardly be a bigger mistake than this. After all, just because it's punishable by law in many countries, people still use it just the same, so it doesn't hurt if they know what dangers it actually poses. (As a preliminary note, it poses fewer dangers than alcohol, which is so commonplace and often even considered cool!) That's why in today's blog post, we're trying to dissect this topic within the available framework.

Does THC Overdose Exist?

Perhaps this is the most important thing to clarify. Well, when using CBD oils available in our range, this certainly won't be an issue, since they either contain no THC at all, or if they do, only in such a negligible - legally regulated - amount that it doesn't cause any psychosis or mind-altering effects.

But even if you smoke cannabis, in any dosage, you still don't need to fear overdose, since you would need to cross the line to such an extent that it's almost physically impossible.

In milder cases, dizziness, shortness of breath, pallor, vomiting, anxiety, trembling, increased pulse rate, disorientation and hallucinations occur, but there's no need to fear any serious effects that could be life-threatening.

And for a THC dose to be fatal is completely impossible, since you would need to use 40,000 times the effective dose for the result to be fatal. Perhaps it's no wonder that cannabis is actually much safer than alcohol.

What Should We Do in Case of THC Overdose?

If we experience the above-mentioned symptoms, whether in ourselves or others (we'll mainly be able to help others in such cases), we must not leave the person alone, but rather accompany them to a safe place where they can spend the next 1-2 hours. Tell them repeatedly that they only feel what they feel because of the cannabis, and avoid quick, vigorous movements as well. Hydration is also extremely important, and we shouldn't let them worsen their condition with additional mind-altering substances. If we feel the situation isn't improving, we should definitely consult a doctor!

General advice is to definitely check what we're about to consume - avoid cannabis of unknown origin! By readingour previous blog post, for example, you can find out which cannabis strains have the highest THC levels!

Safety First!

As you can see, there's no need to fear fatal overdose, but regardless, it's definitely worth using these natural substances that otherwise provide perfect recreation and relaxation in moderation.

The same applies to CBD, which is then completely impossible to overdose in the classical sense, and it definitely doesn't cause psychosis. However, if you use too much, it loses its beneficial effect, meaning it remains ineffective.

Until you've experienced how each strain affects you, it's definitely worth handling it carefully. And if you have questions about any cannabis strain, feel free to contact us with confidence!
